Delegation From Kazakhstan Meets With Director John Baza and Other Utah Organizations

In early November, Division of Oil, Gas and Mining Director John Baza, Office of Energy Development Director Greg Todd, and Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity Program Director Franz Kolb met with a delegation from Kazakhstan and representatives of various Utah organizations including the University of Utah, Brigham Young University and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes.

Kazakhstan is seeing a heavy presence of multinational petroleum companies in their country, and they wanted to discuss petroleum in Utah. This delegation also visited Texas. Kazakhstan is experiencing substantial growth in Russian businesses and would like to see the same relationship with the United States.

Kazakhstan also has various mining resources that they would like to see developed, including uranium deposits. They also have lots of potential for agricultural development, especially in exporting wheat.
